Manic Panic – 35 Years of Making Our Lives More Colorful

You cannot see a music video, open a way magazine or perhaps walk lower the road without seeing the most recent fashion craze,  Technicolor hair. Like a lot of the latest fashions (mohawks on small children, anybody?) putting on vibrantly colored hair began like a rejection of mainstream culture, mainly one of the youth from the punk scene.  The company that's been symbolic of offering hair dye in most colors from the rainbow with properly eclectic names, like Crimson Haze, Bad Boy Blue, and Vampire Red-colored, is Manic Stress.   However, many might not realize that Manic Stress came from 35 years back within the East Village like a store offering styles inspired through the British punk scene, which famous hair dye, at 33 St. Marks Place by two siblings in the Bronx, Tish and Snooky Bellomo.

Tish and Snooky were key gamers within the punk scene that required root within the East Village within the mid to late seventies. Before opening their shop they sang backup for any band known as The Stilletos, by having an original line-up that incorporated fashion punk icon Darlene Harry. After opening the shop they ongoing to do at venues like CBGBs, Maxs Might, and also the Mudd Club.  Manic Stress would be a favorite shop of Cyndi Lauper, The Ramones, The Dictators, Cher, Sid Vicious, and Bill Murray.

Manic Stress assisted to herald the punk era within the East Village and St. Marks Place particularly.
